Any long time collector of Bronze Age Marvel Comics issues has experienced that sinking feeling when paging through an issue and finding that something has been cut out of a page. Odds are the owner of that comic clipped the Marvel Value Stamp. This promotional program by Marvel Comics, which spanned 1974-1976, was comprised of two different sets of stamps known as Series A and Series B. The 100 stamps in Series A were images of popular and sometimes obscure heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe. Collectors would clip the stamps and those attempting to collect them all often stuck them into the pages of a 16-page Stamp Book purchased by mail directly from Marvel. The 100 stamps of Series B stamps were puzzle pieces. Another stamp book from Marvel allowed collectors to organize the puzzle piece stamps into 10 larger images. Check out our checklist of the Series A Marvel Value Stamps! |
